"ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign

In Case of Emergency

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign

The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by Founder of Sporthi Foundation who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE."

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!

Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about this It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

What is the difference between ( http:// ) and ( https:// )

The main difference between http:// and https:// is: it's all about
keeping you secure.

HTTP:// stands for Hyper Text Transport Protocol,
Which is just a fancy way of saying it's a protocol (a language, in a
manner of speaking)
for information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients.
The important thing is the letter "S".
This is what makes the difference between http:// and https://.
The "S" (big surprise) stands for "Secure".
If you visit a website or web page, and look at the address in the web
browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://.
This means that the website is talking to your browser using the
regular 'unsecured' language. In other words, it is possible for
someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the
website. If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the
information you send to that site.

This is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http:// website !

But if the web address begins with https://, that basically means your
computer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can
eavesdrop on.
You understand why this is so important, right?
If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you
should automatically look to see if the web address begins with
https://.
If it doesn't, do NOT enter sensitive information like a credit card number.

Employee & HrManager

Employee: Excuse me sir, may I talk to you?

HR Manager: Sure, come on in. What can I do for you?

Employee: Well sir, as you know, I have been an employee of this prestigious firm for over ten years.

HR Manager: Yes.

Employee: I won't beat around the bush. Sir, I would like a raise. I currently have four companies after me and so I decided to talk to you first.

HR Manager: A raise? I would love to give you a raise, but this is just not the right time.

Employee: I understand your position, and I know that the current economic downturn has had a negative impact on sales, but you must also take into consideration my hard work, pro- activeness and loyalty to this company for over a decade.

HR Manager: Taking into account these factors, and considering I don't want to start a brain drain, I'm willing to offer you a fifteen percent raise and an extra five days of vacation time. How does that sound?

Employee: Great! It's a deal! Thank you, sir!

10 quirky facts about kissing

1. Two out of every three couples turn their heads to the right when they kiss.

2. A simple peck uses two muscles; a passionate kiss, on the other hand, uses all 34 muscles in your face. Now that’s a rigorous workout!

3. Like fingerprints or snowflakes, no two lip impressions are alike.

4. Kissing is good for what ails you. Research shows that the act of smooching improves our skin, helps circulation, prevents tooth decay, and can even relieve headaches.

5. The average person spends 336 hours of his or her life kissing.

6. Ever wonder how an “X” came to represent a kiss? Starting in the Middle Ages, people who could not read used an X as a signature. They would kiss this mark as a sign of sincerity. Eventually, the X came to represent the kiss itself.

7. Talk about a rush! Kissing releases the same neurotransmitters in our brains as parachuting, bungee jumping, and running.

8. The average woman kisses 29 men before she gets married.

9. Men who kiss their partners before leaving for work average higher incomes than those who don’t.

10. The longest kiss in movie history was between Jane Wyman and Regis Tommey in the 1941 film, You’re in the Army Now. It lasted 3 minutes and 5 seconds. So if you’ve beaten that record, it’s time to celebrate!

He looks deeply within your eyes and tells you to trust him-he's done this many times before. His cool smile relaxes you and you open wider to give him more room for an ease entrance. You begin to plead and beg him to hurry, but he slowly takes his time, wanting to cause you as little pain as possible.

As he presses closer, going deeper, you feel the tissue give way; pain surges throughout your body and you feel the slight trickle of blood as he continues. He looks at you concerned and asks you if it's too painful. Your eyes are filled with tears but you shake your head and nod for him to go on.

He begins going in and out with skill but you are now too numb to feel him within you. After a few moments, you feel something bursting within you and he pulls it out of you, you lay panting, glad to have it over. He looks at you and smiling warmly, tells you, with a chuckle; that you have been his most stubborn yet most rewarding experience.

How to Handle Problems Coming your Way

A wealthy man decided to go on a safari in Africa. He took his faithful pet Dachshund dog along for company.

One day, the Dachshund starts chasing butterflies and before long the Dachshund discovers that he is lost. Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having lunch.

The Dachshund thinks, "I'm in deep trouble now! Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by and immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the Dachshund exclaims loudly, Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here."

Hearing this, the leopard halts his attack in mid-stride, as a look of terror comes over him, and slinks away into the trees. "Whew," says the leopard. "That was close. That Dachshund! Nearly had me."

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes. But the Dachshund sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up.

The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, here monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine.

Now the Dachshund sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks What am I going to do now?" But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet... and just when they get close enough to hear, the Dachshund says,

Where's that damn monkey? I sent him off half an hour ago to bring me another leopard."

Moral: It doesn't matter what cards you hold but how you play them!!

Women are really dumb but think they're really smart.

A Woman was out golfing one day when she hit the ball into the woods. She went into the woods to look for it and found a frog in a trap.

The frog said to her, "If you release me from this trap, I will grant you three wishes."

The woman freed the frog, and the frog said, "Thank you, but I failed to mention that there was a condition to your wishes.

Whatever you wish for, your husband will get times ten!"

The woman said, "That's okay."

For her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the world.

The frog warned her, "You do realize that this wish will also make your husband the most handsome man in the world, an Adonis whom women will flock to".

The woman replied, "That's okay, because I will be the most beautiful woman and he will have eyes only for me."

So, KAZAM-she's the most beautiful woman in the world!

For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world.

The frog said, "That will make your husband the richest man in the world. And he will be ten times richer than you."

The woman said, "That's okay, because what's mine is his and what's his is mine."

So, KAZAM-she's the richest woman in the world!

The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered, "I'd like a mild heart attack."

10 secrets about women’s brain

Neurologists made a list of 10 things men should know about women’s brain. Louann Brizendine, neurologist at California university in San Francisco pointed out the most important moments in a women’s life which affect both her body and brain.

Louann Brizendine mentions in her book “The Female Brain” the most important things men should know about a woman in order to understand her behavior.

1. The pre-menstrual symptom affects women more than 80%. Their state of mind is in permanent change because of the hormonal level. 10 days from the moment menstruation appears, before the ovulation, woman give great importance to the way they look and search for sexual opportunities because of the estrogen and testosterone level augmentation. The worst women state of mind appears 12-24 hours before menstruation occurrence.

2. Woman intuition is more a biological matter than a mystical one. Research shows that women can identify, by mistake, all kind of messages hidden in the voice or all kind of body language signs. They often know what their employers, husbands or strangers plan.

3. Women hate conflicts, but more than that they hate the lack of reaction. The chemicals that float a woman’s brain during a conflict block her, more when the conflict concerns the relationship with the lover. Women prefer a bad reaction than no reaction at all.

4. Women give different responses to pain and anxiety. Studies made over the years show that men react different to pain and fear than women. Moreover, women’s brain seems to be more sensitive than men’s, being affected by the most little stress stimulation. This is an explanation for the fact that women are more likely to suffer from depressions and anxiety.

5. Women avoid violence. Facing a threat, men react according to the saying “run or fight”, while women prefer “offer or friendship”. They are likely to choose strategic alliances with possible attackers then a physical fight.

6. Women libido decreases immediately. Certain areas from a women brain should take a pause in order to have an orgasm. Studies show that any women’s sexual desire can disappear if she is nervous, or has little self-estime.

7. Pregnancy lowers women’s brain. During pregnancy, women’s brain lowers about 4%, according to a study made in 2002 by “American Journal of Neuroradiology”. It recovers its dimension 6 months after giving birth. Other studies mention that because of hormonal changes, mothers seem to have memory problems.

8. Nursery, harder than cocaine. A mother feels the need to consider everything around her predictable. And because the baby’s development depends on the mother’s state of mind, women find relaxation during nursery. According to a study published by “Journal of Neuroscience”, nursery relaxes a woman’s brain better than cocaine.

9. Women live adolescence twice in a lifetime. At about the age of 43, women live again the adolescence changes, because of the hormonal sudden modifications. This period lasts between 2-9 years. The apogee is at the age of 47-48, the second adolescence being surpassed until the age of 52.

10. Women love risk at old ages. After 50, women’s appetite for adventure grows. While at this age men are looking for socialization, women tend to look for conflicts, they get involved in community matters or they look for different activities that please them.

Shimla: Hostel warden held for molesting girls

In a shocking incident, minor inmates of a tribal girls' hostel at Solan in Himachal Pradesh have been allegedly molested and harassed for more than a year by its in-charge, who has now been arrested.

Acting on a complaint of a 14 year-old tribal girl from Kalpa in Kinnaur district, a police team led by Superintendent of Police of Solan Prem Kumar Thakur raided the hostel at Salogra on Tuesday night and arrested hostel in-charge Pawan Goel.

Goel, 48, has been booked under Section 354 of IPC (molestation) and Section 3 of SC/ST Act, Additional Superintendent of Police Basher Singh Chauhan, who was part of the raid team said today. Salogra is five km from Solan district headquarters and about 40 km south-west of Shimla.

It has been alleged that several girl inmates of the hostel have been repeatedly sexually harassed by the warden for more than a year. The complainant girl is at present undergoing treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College here for "depression" caused by the incident.

The matter came to light when the petition of the girl was taken to Additional Director General of Police (CID) I D Bhandari by a social activist Ajai Srivastava. Bhandari ordered the Solan police to take necessary action.

The hostel, 'Adivasi Balika Education Complex', having a capacity to house 30 girls, is being run in a rented building by the 'Bharatiya Adim Jaati Sewak Sangh', a voluntary organisation for tribal welfare founded by late Thakar Bappa, an associate of Mahatama Gandhi. It is funded by the Central government.

Srivastava said 21 poor tribal girls aged between 13 and 17 from Himachal Pradesh and Jharkhand are presently living in the hostel.

The girls are studying at Salogra government secondary school. Goel and his wife Kiran were running the hostel, the chairman of public welfare trust Umang foundation said.

In her petition to Srivastava, the complainant said the in-charge used to sexually harass the girls for over a year.

Even a complaint to the local head of the society by parents of one of the girls did not improve the situation.

She said Goel used to ask the girls to message his body and also used to send obscene SMS to some of them.

Surprisingly, Kiran did not stop Goel from indulging in illegal activities with the girls, the girl said in her petition.

A similar incident took place on March last year in the state. Three teachers, including a school principal, were arrested in Shimla on charges of sexual exploitation of six mentally challenged girls at a hostel run by NGO Prerna.

Demanding a commission for protection of child rights in Himachal Pradesh, Srivastava said if the state government did not initiate immediate corrective steps, the foundation would file a PIL in the High Court on the matter.

Cool Hostel Life

Any guy or girl who has spent a few years in a hostel will tell you that it is a mixed bag. Neither is it all fun, games and drinking, nor is it all studies, ragging and tension. It is an ideal preparatory ground for all ’kids’ to grow up and face life.

Here I will list down 3 good and bad sides of Hostel life (as I see it).

WHAT I ENJOYED:

1. Movies:
While I was in hostel, I watched most of the movies FDFS (First Day First Show). It did not really matter if the movie was good, bad or ugly. It did not matter if the movie was a comedy, romance or a tragedy. It did not matter if it came from a Yash Raj banner or was a C Grade South Indian adult fare. WE HAD FUN.

2. Dhaba Food: We had lots of Dhaba food. Being a non veg eater, I ate numerous plates of juicy Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken and Rotis at various dhabas. We had food in dhabas mainly becos we enjoyed the food there and could not afford food in big restaurants anyway.

3. Drinking and Dirty Mags:
As any guy staying in hostels will tell you, guys drink a LOT! In our hostel, Daaru was plentiful. It did not matter if you had money or not - no body refused you a drink! So we drank like there was no tomorrow............and ofcourse every guys hostel has lots of dirty mags. The number of Dirty Mags i have been through in those 3 years - I can not match up in all my years ahead. And everybody used to bring their own collection and share with all. So I read English, Tamil, Telegu, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi and even some French dirty mags. (Fortunately you read less and look more - as I cant read all those languages).

WHAT I HATED:

1. Ragging: No body enjoys running around in the college campus without clothes on (at night)! Neither did I! But ragging was accepted as a necessary evil and we had to tolerate it as well. But to our credit WE NEVER RAGGED anyone. No exceptions.....no clarifications. No one was even told to sing a song, dance - nothing at all. Unfortunately we were not so lucky and had to do several ragging acts like:
- Proposing to senior’s girlfriends
- Dancing Mujra in our undies (or nothing) for our seniors / ’pleasuring’ ourselves openly
- Wearing flimsy girl’s undergarments in our ragging period (1.5 months)
But thanks to this - I could after that bath, change clothes in front of others - no issues. I was very shy before i went to the hostel.

2. Hostel Food: I will let you judge our hostel food by describing a typical canteen meal.
Rice with stones (90% and 10%)
Dal in water (90% and 10%)
Sabzi (A mix of vegetables no one can understand)
Chaas (Dahi and Water)
:) To say the least - we hated it from the bottom of our heart and ate out when the pocket permitted. But thanks to this - I can today eat anything, anywhere - no problem sir!

3. Exams: It’s not really anything to do with Hostels, but we did have to study a lot in the hostel. Atleast 3 months a year we used to study day and night. And by day and night - I mean upto 15 hours a day! And the hostel dudes were very supportive. No one EVER disturbed you if you were studying. But those 3 months were really tough. The only pleasure was the day results came out and we could see the Distinction" stamp on the result card!

At the end of it all, I feel when i have kids, i will definitely keep them a few years in hostel. This will help them ’GROW UP’.

Please add your experiences in the comments!

Love Life......

1. Start Each Day with a Creative State of MinD

As you open your eyes to greet the new day, spend the first few minutes thinking of the things that bring you the most happiness and comfort. It can be your family, your faith, or a special goal or project you have set for yourself.

In addition, spend a couple of brief moments thinking about the most exciting thing that happened to you yesterday. Savor this experience and allow the feelings to spill over into the new day.

Create a picture in your mind of how you want the day to unfold. Visualize it clearly and attractively in your mind. Imagine the people you want to meet, the things you want to accomplish or experience, and the fun you want to enjoy. Then, no matter the problems or obstacles you encounter, keep this mental snapshot with you and refer back it to when needed.

2. Begin Conditioning Your Mind for a Good Day, Every Day

Just like what we pay attention to grows, we also become what we think. Ralph Waldo Emerson writes, A man is what he thinks about all day long.

So the question becomes how can we learn to develop the right kind of thoughts to get the most out of each and every day? It begins with starting your day with positive thoughts. Then it becomes very important to condition you mind to keep doing this. Consider the following:

Practice letting go of fear or any other self-limiting thought that keeps you from achieving what you want to have in your life.
Practice replacing the negative thoughts in your mind with more positive ones. Fill your mind with what you want to have; not what you want to avoid. In fact, say aloud what you want. Allow your mind, and heart, to hear it.
Surround yourself with positive people and activities. Attempt to avoid, or at least ignore, those folks and things that are toxic for you.
Walk the talk: Be positive. Say nice things - and really mean them.
Start each day with a prayer or a special request. You will be surprised how often you receive what you ask for when you condition your mind to focus on the positive.

3. Understand Every Day is a Gift

Make it a goal, a priority, to appreciate each and every day. Too often we get caught-up with planning and scheduling our lives, but not living our lives. Make a list, right now, of all of the things you want to see or do in your life.

Use this day to pick an item from the list and perform one action that will move you closer to achieving it. Confidence builds and motivation soars when we use our days to move forward to fulfilling our heart's desire. Today is a gift we have been given. Allow this day to live within your heart. Allow this day to move you closer to your life's purpose and passion.

4. Keep Your Emotions Under Control

Exerting your control is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when it comes to your emotions. The controlled person is a powerful person. He or she who always keeps their head will get ahead. I've seen numerous people ruin their whole day because of the lack of emotional control.

Pay attention to the times when you begin to emotionalize rather than to think. When you feel your emotions begin to trump logic, stop and regroup. Sit quietly and think: What would a logical and rational person do in this situation? You will get your answer if you pay attention and keep listening.

5. Do One Thing, Every Day, to Feel Healthier

There is a mind - body connection. It is difficult to have a good day when you do not feel well mentally or physically. Besides going to the doctor for check-ups and the like, there are emotional, mental and spiritual things you can do each day. Here are a few ways to begin feeling healthier today and every day:

Think health, not sickness. Remember, what you think about grows. Stop looking for things to go wrong with your health or body. Instead, think positively about your physical health. Mental images tend to reproduce themselves.
Attempt to free your mind of ill thoughts and attitudes. Learn to replace ill will with goodwill to create a healthier state of mind. The relationship between the mind and its influence on your physical conditions is significant. Purge your mind of resentment, frustrations and anger and you will release tensions that only exacerbate physical illness.
Make one deliberate choice each day regarding what you eat and drink. Opt for water instead of a diet cola, for example. Go with the salad for your combo meal instead of the French fries.
Add up every reason for being happy, thankful and healthy. Also, add up reasons for your health and happiness. You will be surprised at how many reasons you will find. Place these reasons in your reserve tank and tap into them when you feel your energy getting low.

6. Give More Than You TakE

It is our responsibility to have a good day and to resist the temptation to surrender or simply give up. Just as we expect great things from Life; Life also expects great things from each one of us.

Think of your life as a bank savings account. Your job is to make meaningful deposits of love, grace and kindness every day. Your focus should not be in how much interest you are earning, but rather how many deposits you are making

There will be come a day, however, when you will need to make a withdrawal. By giving more than you take, you will have all the resources necessary to receive what you need; when you need it the most

7. Finish the Day Strong

It is important how we begin the day; it is also important how we end the day. Begin it right, live it right, think it right and end it right and you can have a good day every day.

At the end of each day, imagine there is a large balloon in your stomach filled with all of the day,s activities. Practice feeling the sensation of releasing the air in this balloon and with it, all of your responsibilities. Allow your mind to rest while your body rests and feel the day's tensions drift away.

As your drift off to sleep tonight, count your blessings and name them, one by one. Acknowledge them and give them life. When you do, these same blessings will be waiting for you tomorrow ready to help you get the most out of the new day

what is meditation?

Simplified Def: mind +breath =meditation

Reactions and Response

While I was in a Restaurant, suddenly a cockroach flew from somewhere and sat on a lady standing a little away from me.

She started screaming out of fear. With panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach. Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group got cranky to what was happening. The lady finally managed to push the cockroach to another lady in the group.

Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama. The waiter rushed forward to their rescue.

In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter.

The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the Behaviour of the cockroach on his shirt.

When he was confident enough, he grabbed and threw it out with his fingers.

Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering!

Was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic Behaviour?

If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed?

He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos.
It is not the cockroach, but the inability of the ladies to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach that disturbed the ladies.

I realized even in my case then, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss that disturbs me,

But its my inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me.

Its not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me.

More than the problem, its my reaction to the problem that hurts me.

The Take-Away :

The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded.

We should not react in life, we should always respond.
Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always intellectual.

I got the message, did you?

Ram Janmabhumi - Babri Masjid

Friends and Countrymen, this is not a speech, this is the most important truth.

The High Court is about to give its ruling on the Ram Janmabhumi - Babri Masjid case on 28 September. There might be a possibility that there is a huge argument over this issue.

Different religious parties will talk about Mandir Masjid and will provoke you one way or other.

Just Remember one thing, people dying in riots are neither Hindu, nor Muslim, they're only someone's brother, son, husband and the last hope of their family. Please maintain your sanity and never break your unity. Let's stand together always and Forever. Just remember that we are a Nation first.
